I want to share something a little different today. Starting with this post, someone who's been quietly supporting the shop side of things will now be joining me in writing these updates.
His name is Masa. He doesn't usually show up on camera, and he's not involved with the videos — but he's been helping run the shop for a while now.
How We Got Here
Masa and I connected through social media back when I was just getting started on YouTube. He was doing the same thing on his own channel — making woodworking videos, trading notes with me here and there, cheering each other on from a distance.
In July of 2025, we finally got to travel together for a trade show in Las Vegas, walking the floor, talking to makers and suppliers, and seeing what was out there.
One night from that trip stands out. Masa, Takashi — the founder of Temple Tool Co. — Chris, his co-founder, and a few others all sat down for dinner together, and we got to talking about wanting to bring this plan business to more woodworkers. That conversation was one of the things that got Masa involved in helping run the shop, and that's basically how we ended up here.
Where Things Stand Now
Since then, Masa's been handling a lot of the shop side of things — the plans, the orders, all of it — which frees me up to focus on what I love: making things and sharing them with you. Starting with this post, he's helping write these Weekly Updates too.
Our goal hasn't changed. We want to keep putting out plans that are genuinely useful, that help you build things you're proud of. There's just one more person helping make that happen now.
I'm happy to finally introduce Masa, who's been supporting the shop behind the scenes for a while now. I'll keep doing what I always do — making things and sharing them with you.
One more thing: going forward, some of the emails you send to the shop might get a reply from Masa instead of me. He's not involved with the YouTube side of things — just the shop — so if you hear from him, that's why.
